Görlitz is Germany’s easternmost City, separated from Poland by the Neisse River. Two bridges are connected to Zgorzelec in Poland. After the disappearance of the borders, an unrestricted travel between the two Cities is possible. Due to the geographic position, many similarities can be experienced under the concept of Europe City. This benefits political, infrastructure, economic and cultural relationships. Between the two cities‘ administration, there is a regular information exchange about infrastructure improvement for mutual benefit. In front of the City’s gate, both Polish tourism in Silesia and the German one in the Upper Lusatia, offer attractions. Görlitz currently has a population of approx. 54,000 and Zgorzelec has a population of approx.32,000.
